The beers of Southeast Asia

We told ourselves we wouldn’t drink too much beer in Southeast Asia. But for the sake of research and this blog and since it was between 85-100 degrees when we were there and the beer typically cost around $1, we may not have lived up to that promise. Here are our findings.

Chang (Thailand)

This a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. There are elephants in the logo.

Tiger (Singapore)

This a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. There is a tiger in the logo.

Leo (Thailand)

This a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. There is a leopard in the logo.

Singha (Thailand)

This a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. There is a Singha, a mythical Thai creature that resembles a lion, in the logo.

Angkor Beer (Cambodia)

This a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. In a break from the animal theme, the famous, eponymous Angkor Wat is in the logo.

Bia Ha Noi/Dai Viet/333 (Vietnam)

This (any of the three) is a pale lager style beer. It isn’t very interesting or tasty. Seeing as you’re probably very hot, the first sip will likely be sort of refreshing. It will go downhill from there. The logos don’t even feature any animals.

Beer Lao (Laos)

This is the one you want. It’s pretty tasty, and not just by the above standards. There’s a lion in the logo.
